Meet These Combat-Wounded Heroes

The bravery, courage and sacrifice of two combat-wounded U.S. military heroes will be applauded and rewarded during the tournament. Two wounded warriors are to be honored and presented with mortgage-free homes through the Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Homes4WoundedHeroes program and made possible by local sponsors Hillwood, Higginbotham Insurance and Financial Services, Vermeer Texas-Louisiana and Fort Worth Charities Inc.

Retired U.S. Army Private 2nd Class Joseph Colomb of Opelousas, LA and retired U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Jesse Brassart of Denver, CO will both be at Colonial on Wednesday of tournament week to take part in a special ceremony where they will be awarded their mortgage-free homes.

After the Twin Towers fell on September 11, 2011, Colomb abandoned his dream of playing collegiate baseball and he joined the Army to gallantly serve his country. Brassart convinced his mother to sign and permit him to join the Marines at the age of 17 where he attended boot camp immediately after he graduated high school. Brassart said that from a young age he wanted to join the military to carry on his family legacy of serving just like his grandfather and uncle.
