Standard bearer for 35 Years

Standard bearer for 35 Years

Mark Dunavin knows the score at Colonial. For 35 years, the Grand Prairie resident and devoted volunteer has been a standard bearer at the annual tournament in Fort Worth.

That level of seniority means he gets to carry the leaders scores on Saturday and Sunday

during the Charles Schwab Challenge. Prior to Saturday’s round, Mark hadn’t met Harry Hall or Harris English yet, but no chance he’s going to be starstruck. He’s walked the fairways of Colonial with legends from Tom Watson to Annika Sorenstam.

The only year Mark wasn’t a standard bearer was in 2020, when Colonial was the first tournament back after COVID-19 restrictions. There were no fans that year, of course, but Mark still volunteered and kept score on the manual boards.
