The Birdies for Charity program is an opportunity for charitable organizations to utilize the awareness and magnitude of a PGA TOUR event to further their fundraising initiatives. The Charles Schwab Challenge is excited to offer this program to partner with 501 (c) 3 charitable organizations that contribute so much to the Tarrant County community. The program generated over $13 million for Tarrant County charities in 2019, recognized as one of the top Birdies for Charity programs on the PGA TOUR. The concept is simple: Charitable Organizations solicit pledges from individuals and corporations for every birdie made during the Charles Schwab Challenge. In 2019, 1,211 birdies were recorded during the tournament. As a bonus, charities have the opportunity to earn additional contributions from our Matching Fund. The Matching Fund is distributed based on a pro-rata basis of total pledges collected. In 2019, the total Matching Fund exceeded $200,000 thanks to the generous support of our Lead Sponsors and Colonial Country Club. We are challenging the Tarrant County corporate community as supporting sponsors to assist us in growing our Matching Fund in 2020. 100% of our Friends of Birdies contributions is distributed to the charities.
